Hey, Dash here!
Okay, so first off yes this post was maybe a tiny bit inspired by Taylor Swift. (her lyrics are in the title.) Hmmm, I wounder if you can tell how obsessed I am with her yet…
Anyways! Though beauty trends can come and go there are many things that stay strong year in, year out and I just thought I’d share some with you. Some are styles and some are more like mantras to keep playing on repeat in your mind.
1. Less is always, always more.
This literally applies to everything! Glitter, eyeliner, blush contour. You name it, this can be said about it.
We all love some heavy, boldeyeliner at times or way out there statement lips but as we’re seeing with contouring, it won’t always be on the rise or in style. This little tip though, will always be one to keep in mind!
2. Brush that blush!
When it comes to applying blush, I’m sure we’ve all have those moments when we look in the mirror and see a total flushed disaster starring back at us, (I Know I have…) This tip for putting on your blush should solve this though! Take you brush and apply in light circles from the cheek bone to the hairline, I promise you won’t be disappointed.
3. Magic moisturiser!
You really can’t get a better beauty product than some good moisturiser, because after all beauty care starts from within and if you don’t have a good foundation then how can you expect to have a good surface. Keep your skin hydrated and smooth by regularly using moisturiser and drinking water. (Healthy looking skin is always in style.)
4. Top and base coats are essential!
Whether you’re a nail art fanatic or a chilled out one colour suits all type of girl, taking care if your nails is important. Yes, there’s loads of nail care products out there but a simple thing to remember for painting you’re nails, especially with dark colours is that base coat is important. Certainly nail colours can stain your nail bed and chipping nail Polish can pull away at the top layers of your nail. Base coat stops this by acting as a barrier between the two. It’s also great for creating a smooth surface to paint on.
Top coat helps protect your nail too. Paint it on over your varnish and it’ll keep it from chipping or peeling (nobody likes the look of chipped nails.), it’ll also give your nails a lovely finished and shine to them.
5. Keep it light.
Day after day, wearing heavy makeup can be really damaging for your skin. Try cutting down on the amount you wear, either way you’ll look gorgeous! (the natural look is also very in right now.)
6. When in doubt, test it out.
Be it a lipstick, foundation or false tan, if in doubt about using a makeup product do a patch test. Dab a little on your hand and leave it. If nothing comes up after a few hours you’re good to go. I have to do this all the time as I’m allergic to a couple of different products. Trust me, once I was worried about using this one brand of foundation on my face but I didn’t it anyway. No even two minutes later, I’d got a rash and my face looked like a tomato… Yeah not a good look.
7. Vaseline is basically God sent.
Vaseline is a product you can pretty much always trust and it’s got lots of different uses from keeping your lips looking well, to lengthening eye lashes and darkening and taming eye brows. It works wonders.
8. Keeping it natural.
Natural beauty is always in. If you’re confused about the way to do your makeup when going somewhere, a fancy dinner, a party anywhere really, looking more natural can work well.
